Musical Inspirations - Sarah Cantley-Foster

Biography

Greetings, and congratulations on beginning your search for a Kindermusik class! I believe that soon you’ll fall in love with Kindermusik and come to see it as THE BEST, just like millions of other parents and children have. I know I love teaching it!

I’ve had the ‘music bug’ from an early age. Some of my earliest memories of singing and music include prancing around and playing ‘dress-up’ in my family’s lounge in Dayton, Ohio, USA to ‘Beach Boys’ and ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ tunes. I never quite grew out of that stage though (who wants to?! It’s great!) and soon  joined band, choir and show choir (think ‘Glee’ without so much drama!) when I was in school and later, as if I hadn’t had enough already, I went and studied Vocal Performance at uni.  Learning all those foreign-language songs and operas was brilliant and were experiences that changed my life and gave me a taste for travel as well! After I graduated uni I lived in Germany for a year, studying German and doing youth work and church music as well.  I found there that, even though the choir I was directing didn’t completely understand every word I said, when I sang and demonstrated what I wanted, they understood perfectly. Music- the international language!

When I returned home I met my soon-to-be husband, Chris. We married, I taught singing lessons and pre-school music for a couple years, and then he decided to start work on a PhD. So this is what brought us to the fine country of England! I love it here and this journey we’re on.

Well, the Kindermusik part of my journey began because I was searching high and low for my own ‘purpose’ here in England.  I love teaching music, I love kids (of all ages!), I love to have fun, and I also love to learn. I also know that learning is much easier when it’s fun! So, on a suggestion from a best friend, I began to investigate Kindermusik and found that it was just what I’d been looking for! I immediately enrolled in educator training and haven’t looked back since. I have found it to be an exciting and very worthwhile addition to my journey and I hope that you will make it part of your and your child’s journey as well. Join me as we participate together in something life-changing- not just music, but Kindermusik!
