Kindermusik with Rachel - Rachel Georgeson
Biography
I have always loved and taken part in music. I passionately believe that music is something that everyone can express themselves through and have fun with. As a proud mum myself, and someone who really enjoys working with children, I am committed to early childhood music education as a means of instilling a lifelong affinity and confidence with music, and as a tool for developing important life skills.
I am a singer-songwriter and play the fiddle, guitar and piano. I have a BA Hons in Drama and Theatre Arts and a PGCE in key stages 2 and 3 education, specialising in music. I have previously worked as a schoolteacher, an actress and been Musical Director of a fringe theatre company in London composing music for productions. Music has always been integral to the things I enjoy doing in my free time. I occasionally play the fiddle for a morris team and at traditional music sessions, I sing and play guitar and fiddle in a band with three other female singer songwriters and I spend lots of time singing and making music with my little girl (even more so now that I have learned lots of fun and inspiring Kindermusik activities to share with her!)
I chose to become part of the international community of fully trained, licensed Kindermusik educators because I am committed to offering a high quality, fun and fulfilling musical experience for children and their parents. As a mum, I was especially drawn to the Kindermusik belief that the parent or caregiver is the child’s most important educator, the emphasis on taking the music and activities away from the lesson and into the home, so that music becomes a wonderful, natural part of everyday family life. The excellent home materials that go with Kindermusik classes provide an ideal tool for this.
