Hear From Our Educators
"I became a Licensed Kindermusik Educator on 1 November 2004, having spent my
career up until then working within the medical/pharmaceutical industry. I
decided to make this huge career change when the commute to and from the office
took up too much of my day, leaving no time for the things I actually enjoy;
music, dance and my beautiful cottage and garden. Instead, I decided to harness
my musical talents and combine them with my scientific knowledge and training
skills to launch my ‘Kindermusik with Lynn’ classes.
I started teaching at the end of February 2005 and currently run Village and Our
Time classes in Stony Stratford on Thursdays and Village, Our Time and Imagine
That classes in Potterspury (my home village) on Fridays. In addition, I have
just gained approval to start Village and Our Time classes within the crèche
complex in the main shopping centre in Central Milton Keynes on Monday
afternoons.
Although my class sizes are very small at the moment – between 2 and 6 families
per class – the enquiries keep on coming and the mums who attend love the music,
the activities and the quality of the instruments. They especially like the home
CDs, where they and their children can listen to and learn the music and songs
in their own time. One mum told me that her daughter was teaching the songs to
her older brother!
Personally, I have enjoyed the challenge of learning something completely new
and the experience of setting up my own business. The guidance provided by
Kindermusik International as part of the training was excellent and the ongoing
support from other Kindermusik Educators in the UK is invaluable. It is
absolutely brilliant to see the huge smiles on the children’s faces and the
words “again” or “more” when they are really enjoying an activity. I hope my
programme will continue to expand and that I can bring Kindermusik to as many
children in my area as possible."

" Teaching Kindermusik is the perfect job for me. It combines my love
of music with the business skills I acquired in my previous career. I love being
my own boss and creating a part time career that fits around my family. It
is tremendously rewarding job watching children thrive with
the programme and also provides me with a reasonable
income."
- Vanessa Webb, Surrey, UK
"Lifepotential - this was my vision word, a word the Kindermusik course asks
you for when you begin training. For me it was all about improving my quality of
life, my family's and that of the families I would be teaching. I had already
decided that my marketing consultancy work was far too family unfriendly and
having looked at all the options decided children's music and movement classes
was the thing for me. Then I saw Vanessa's ad and after many converstions took
my interview and signed up for the course. So far I have completed one term of
Village and Our Time as well as Music Box and ABC in one of my local nuseries. I
love it. It has been hard work to recruit the mums but now word of mouth has got
around things are getting just a little easier. The rewards are worth it. Those
Monday mornings when you creak out of bed and can't face the world, jump into a
class full of 2-3 year olds and you very soon get your smile back. The knowledge
that I am teaching from such a sound, researched and succesful programme makes
my job so much easier and more marketable than the other ' bang a drum' classes
that are in such proliferation. I would recommend Kindermusik to anyone thinking
of a change to their lives..."
- Justine Randall, UK
The experience of working with at-risk children has been deeply rewarding and challenging time for me as an educator. The other teachers have told me time and time again that the greatest results they see from Kindermusik are with the behaviorally very difficult children. The director of this
programme [Smart Start] told me that Kindermusik is the only programme she has seen that held an entire classs interest each week! I look forward to being a Kindermusik educator for years to come.

Thank you for overseeing such an outstanding childrens music and movement
programme that is literally changing and enhancing thousands of lives and bringing joy and meaning into hundreds of families in my community. To me Kindermusik has become an extension of who I am. My play is my work and my work is my play and yes, I do have a very fulfilling other life. But not many people on earth can say that about their work.
—Michele Geerdes, Grand Rapids, MI
I just wanted to say thanks, Kindermusik—thanks for giving me the opportunity to do something I love—teach music to children—do it from the comfort of my own home, allowing me to make (and even SAVE) some money each month, and above all, providing me with the opportunity to STILL be a stay-at-home mom! I dance and sing with children all morning and call it a job. I LOVE IT! Thank you, Kindermusik, keep up the good work.
